What can be answered here

  • A download that will not start, or a link that has expired
  • A plan rebuilt with different options within its declared size, roof and door range
  • A figure in a cut list that does not add up against the drawing
  • Which size suits what you intend to store, if you describe the contents and the site

What belongs to your local authority

Permit thresholds, setback distances, height limits and frost depth are set locally and decide what is legal to build on your plot. The building department that issues the permit is also the cheapest source of a straight answer about whether you need one. Nothing in a plan can substitute for that call.

Response time

Messages are answered within two business days, with order and download problems handled first. If you are reporting a discrepancy in a cut list, include the size, roof style and the member in question: the engine regenerates the plan, so a real error gets fixed for everyone who buys that configuration afterwards.

What to put in the message

Three lines answer most questions in one exchange: the email address used at checkout, the configuration you bought or intend to buy, meaning size, roof style and door, and the sheet or page number if the question is about a drawing. A cut list question resolves fastest when the member is named as it appears in the list, because the same plan at a different size renumbers nothing but changes every length.

What is outside what this site can answer

Foundation design for a difficult site, anything requiring a stamped drawing, and questions about whether a specific inspector will accept a specific detail are all outside what a generated plan can settle. The plans name the published span tables their framing is bounded against, which is useful evidence in a conversation with a building department, but it is not a substitute for the engineering judgement that a difficult slope, a high snow load or an unusual soil actually needs.

Before you write about a figure

Check the figure against the dimensioned view rather than against the assembled photo in your head. Most reported discrepancies turn out to be finished length against rough length, or a rafter measured along its slope rather than on the horizontal run, and both are labelled in the list. If the numbers still disagree, write: a real error in the engine is worth fixing because it reaches every plan generated in that configuration afterwards.
