Lean-To Shed Plans

A lean-to shed has a single-slope roof, simpler to frame than a gable since there is no ridge board or two matching slopes to cut, just one roof plane running from a taller back wall down to a shorter front wall.

This site offers a lean-to roof on three sizes: 8x8 ft (rise 14.4 in, back wall 94.4 in tall), 8x10 ft (rise 18 in, back wall 98 in tall) and 10x10 ft (rise 18 in, back wall 98 in tall). Past 10 ft of depth, a lean-to rafter would need to run longer than a 12 ft stock board, which is why 10x12 and larger are gable roof only on this site.

On every lean-to size, the back and side walls frame taller than the front by the roof's rise, then the side wall tops are trimmed to the slope on site; the front wall keeps the standard 80 in height. Every download's start-here page and roof-section drawing show the actual rise and rafter length for the size you pick, not a generic diagram.
