12x16 Shed Plans

A 12x16 ft shed is 192 sq ft on a skid floor, the largest footprint this site supports and enough room for a full workshop, a small barn use, or vehicle storage. Front and back walls run 144 in (12 ft), a single board; the 16 ft depth is where this size differs from every smaller one.

At 16 ft, the floor skids, the roof ridge board, and the left and right wall top and bottom plates all run longer than a single 12 ft stock board. The engine splices each of these the way carpenters actually do on site: floor skids and the ridge board get a lapped, bolted overlap between a front and back half, and wall plates get a butt joint over the stud nearest mid-length. Every spliced piece is labeled "front half, spliced" or "piece A" / "piece B" in the cut list, never left as an unexplained extra board.

This size is gable roof only. Each rafter runs 86.5 in including overhang, cut from an 8 ft board. Three floor skids run the depth (spliced) with joists on 16 in centers between them. Available with a single or double door.
